When I started out I made the biggest mistake of all and that was trying to do everything myself, I’ll explain below:-

I wanted to create a website income for myself, I knew that this was going to need my full-time attention.

I also knew that if I was not careful, I could end up spending a lot of money.
Making instant money was not possible, the sites that said it was where scamming people.

So my answer to all this was to go it alone and that was my biggest blunder, it takes a long time to set up a successful business on the Internet and I am talking about 3-4 months or longer.

Sure, you can have a Website up on the Internet within a day, but as anyone who has done this eventually finds out, your Website is going nowhere.

My hosting account is a Reseller which means I can sell Websites (pages) to anyone and set them up on the same day, but I will not do this for the reasons stated below. Unlike many other Websites who take your money, and then you find out it will cost you a lot more for the extras!!.

There are certain things that you need to do to your Website to make it appealing to Google, Yahoo etc.

Including SEO (Search Engine Optimization) which has must be done correctly, it is not worth thinking about if you get this wrong.
You will need to advertise your Website, how do you go about this without running out of money very quickly?
Your content has must be spot on, so many Websites get this wrong and suffer because of it.
Should you write an article or two and if you do, who should you publish them with for greatest effect?
Do Traffic Exchanges work to promote a Website or do they have a harmful effect when they show up in Google Analytics as a referral visit?
Should you link your Face-book or Twitter(or more) accounts to your Website?
What social buttons should you use on your Website?
Should you be running Google Analytics for your site?
Do you need to blog? And if you do where are you going to go with it?
What is Page Rank and how does this effect your Website?
And what exactly are Back-links and how do you go about getting the right ones that will help your Website?, and at the same time making sure you leave out the Back-links that could harm your Website.

As you can see from above, having your own Website on the Internet involves many things that you as the owner should know. And I could mention many other things that you need to get right for your Website to prosper.
