When talking about Family on the Internet there are two types of Family for us to consider.

The first Family is of course the one that you can do nothing about, the relatives !!

The second Family is your Internet Friends, and these you can choose to your hearts content.

Liz and I have just come back from visiting my parents who live in North Devon, and here lies a tale for any Website owner.

Mum and Dad both have laptops that are set up to what they want to see on the Internet, Dad likes his blogs and Mum her e-mails and shopping.

They log on every day now and use up their monthly allowance surfing at leisure, being Surfers (The Internet kind) they both gave me the reasons why they liked some Websites and not others, Dad likes his sites to be well thought out and informative, Mum likes her sites to look nice, and that’s it.

If the Website they are looking at doesn’t have these three categories,

1. The Website looks nice.
2. The Website is well thought out.
3. The Website is informative.

then both Mum and Dad will surf on until they find a Website with these three things.

So thank you Mum and Dad for reminding me I only need to keep it simple to attract the attention of visitors to my Websites.

By following these three simple steps, you can have a Website that will keep surfers on your site and looking at your pages/posts, and we all want that, don’t we.

The second Family you have is all your Internet connections i.e. Face-Book,Blogger and Twitter etc. these social links are great for going viral with your site and the more the merrier.
What you must be careful of is accumulating too  many business friends, these friends often come with their own agenda that ends up with you paying for something or other.
Learning who you can trust to help with your Internet business takes time and you should not rush into anything.

Think about what’s been said, if it doesn’t look nice, is not well thought out and informative then leave and find something that is.

The aim of most Website owners is to get on the first page of Google,Yahoo etc. This can be accomplished with just the basic SEO in place, you do not need anything else.

Once there the question is how to keep your Website from falling in the rankings, doing nothing will certainly see your Website plummet quite quickly.

To start out your Website doesn’t have to have hundreds of pages/posts, half a dozen is ample. What is more important is that you publish new content every few days, and build up the site this way.

I like to publish every four days, but this is not set in stone.
Publishing every week should be sufficient, keep your content fresh and make sure it is original and not copied or spun.

I often start reading something on a Website that looks interesting only to find that the grammar is wrong, (a sure sign of spinning) this puts me off the site and you can be sure the little Google bot will be put off too.

I will be the first to admit that my English spelling needs a helping hand every now and then, and for that I use a spellchecker (wife) but that is all I use.
Spun/Copied content will see your Website rapidly going downhill, and it will be difficult to stop the slide.

Make sure your content is relative to the subject of your site, and also correctly written for SEO. There is a way this must be done for your page/post to be indexed properly by the search engines.

This is all about linking everything up for those little bots to enjoy.
If your Website is about Purple Cardboard Boxes, write something that is about Purple Cardboard Boxes.
Do not write about Green Artificial Lawns !!!!!

Make sure you are getting good back-links for your page/post and you are ‘Pinging’ the correct services for your page/post, you should also be ‘Pinging’ your RSS feed.
You should ‘Ping’ only once when you publish and then again after three days, do not ‘Ping’ anymore than twice for a page/post as ‘Pinging’ more will have a detrimental effect.

If need be make yourself a little list, for example:
Write original content for page/post.
Make sure it is SEO friendly.
Get back-links for page/post
Ping the correct services with your page/post.

By doing these things correctly the ‘Traffic’ (visitors) are automatically taken care of, as long as you have followed these guides then you will get genuine interested visitors to your Website.

And Would Sir/Madam Like Fluff With That?

In days gone by you could surf away to your hearts content, with only the odd shout of ‘Would you like tea or coffee’ to be heard.
If you were interested in knowing how to create a website income, you would have probably surfed many sites.

Little did we all realise that things were going to change, and for a lot of surfers things did go down-hill pretty quickly. Originally we went from page to page and if something caught our eye, we would stop at the site and read all about whatever was on show.

If we were lucky there were pictures on the site to make the whole experience more enjoyable, and who doesn’t like to look at pictures every now and then?

Then the BOMB dropped, the people making these sites decided that we needed to hear what they had to say, yes I’m talking about the Videos that appear on so many sites today.

The videos I mean are not the instructional ones that we all need when learning how to create a website income, I mean all the other ones that are ‘selling’ something.

My biggest grind is not that these videos suddenly appeared but that they all have the same script (fluff).
Yes I know there is a way to sell things and the path must be trodden in a certain way, but please not all from the same script !

If you have ever viewed these sites (and most of us have), you very quickly learn that certain people should not be making them at all and should definitely not put themselves on show.
How many errs and ums must we all listen to, and frankly some are so bad that I turn them off to spare my sanity.

There is a place for videos and we all know where to go to enjoy them, and these can be funnier if they are badly made. In fact most of us love the amateur side of things but when it boils down to professional videos promoting something or other, I hate to say it but we need them to look and sound professional.

I am sure that there are many surfers now who have the sound turned down on their computers, and I expect many more simply move on quickly to another page so that they won’t be burdened with a video selling them something better than sliced bread!

Some of them you just have to see to believe, but please believe me when I say this novelty wears off very quickly, and you will find yourself questioning your mental state and wondering if you’ll ever use a keyboard again!!

This then brings me to my first question. Would sir/madam like fluff with that?, Well the answer is NO, I do not want to hear another amateur trying to tell me their site has what it takes, if only you would part with some of your hard earned money.

Try this instead, be original, be professional, be funny (if you are) but most of all get your own SCRIPT that has no fluff on it.

I am often suprised by the amount of E-Mails I get from so called Marketing Professionals, and its not about the various offers they have.

What is evidently clear, is that these people have spent a long time trying to earn an income from the Internet, and have failed to create a good website income for themselves.

When you start receiving E-Mails, you very quickly learn which ones are from genuine people and which are scams.

The genuine ones are normally from the people asking for some help and these can easily be identified, but they present a big problem.

The problem is that they have written something like this,

‘I have been a Marketing Professional (someone earning money from the Internet) now for 15 years etc,etc,etc.’

How do you tell them politely that what they have been doing in the last 15 (length of time varies) years is wrong, all the effort that they have put in is for very little, and it will continue this way until they can decide that enough is enough.

Don’t get me wrong, I applaud anyone who has stuck it out with any of the various schemes out there, but do you really think that earning a couple of hundred dollars a month for all your work is success, If you work full time on the Internet then there is a better way to earn yourself a good monthly wage, and learn how to create a website income that will last you for years to come.

Lets clear up a simple truth here, successful Marketing Professionals do not write E-Mails, they are the people who always remain in the background and never share what they know because if they did, people would be earning ‘THEIR’ money and they can’t have that, can they?

This is not being flippant, do you really think that someone who can make a 1,000 dollars a day is going to share it with you? Of course not and the person who thinks they will is being naïve.

This brings me back to the problem of trying to gently tell people, that what they have been doing to try and create a website income for so long, is wrong.
It’s not nice when you are faced with this fact, as I have found out myself, this was in my early days when I wouldn’t listen to anyone because I knew best.

How wrong was I, earning an income from the Internet is like any other job, it has to be learnt. Sure there are short-cuts but understanding what you are doing is the most important aspect of trying to create a website income, and when you learn something it becomes a lot more enjoyable.

So my advice to anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation to a lot of my E-Mails is to get out.
Get out of what ever your doing and start again, yes this takes courage and you will probably think to yourself that you cannot do it, but let me say here and now that you can.

We all need a little help now and then, and it can be a great feeling to be part of something.

….  I first started out trying to create a website income.

As I went through this process I found that there are many little additions you can use for your site.

If I take a Plug-in as an example and I wanted something to produce my Site-Map which was friendly to the Google bot, I was presented with about 20 different versions of the same thing but which one should I choose?

Then If I wanted to cover all the things about setting up my Website, I would have literally ended up with hundreds of options. My brain would be going into overdrive trying to sort out which would have been the best for me and my site.

The answer is to Keep It Simple (kiss), I didn’t have to make things difficult or complicated for myself to get to page ONE of Google or Yahoo etc. (this is something that you can easily do yourself, see earlier posts).

Over time and with a lot of tweaking I can say that my Website now, has what I consider to be the best plug-ins for my site.
The road I took to make my Website a going concern is a long one, and by using this method I learnt most things about Website development that are essential for a good Website to flourish.
But I did find there is an easier way to do all this, however I only found this out after I had spent a few months creating my Website.

There are of course many people who want Websites of their own but are not interested in the set up and maintenance, this presents some problems that you should be made aware of.
The main one being, that if you do not keep your Website up to-date then you will lose page rank and therefore find yourself slipping down in the Indexes.

This of course doesn’t matter if you only want a personal Website, but is very important if you wish to attract visitors to your site.

If your Website is only for personal use that you want to share with family and friends, then having a ready made Website can be the way to go, but make sure you look around as this can get very expensive, also worth noting here is that it can be very enjoyable creating your own Website, you will get a lot of personal satisfaction for a job well done.

I found the whole learning curve a great deal of fun, I was lucky enough to have time to learn and then implement the things I learnt onto my Website. A word of warning here for anyone looking to earn money from their Website. It takes time.

What I did to set up my Website entailed a lot of trial and error and a few months of hard, but enjoyable work.

Then as I have said before, I found this Website that could have saved me a lot of work, saved me a lot of time and shown me what to do. I only found it after I had finished publishing my first Website, way to go mark!!

This short review is for USA and UK citizens parting with their money, although the advice  can effect anyone who parts with money on the Internet.

The Internet is a place where a lot of Websites are after your money, in one way or another. It is getting increasingly more difficult to know who to trust.

That said, what can we do to make sure that if we spend any money on the Internet, that we are spending it in the right place?

Two things come to mind straight away and both these things affect both USA and UK citizens who use the Internet, also for anyone else from any country who is going to spend some money on-line this is important.

First off you should never use anything but a .co.uk or a .com Website, by using these two types of Website you are giving yourself a guarantee that if there is a problem, it will be sorted out.

Both .co.uk and .com Websites that are in the USA or UK are recognized by their respective governments which means certain controls are placed on them to act within the law.

Your rights as a consumer are protected, this cannot be said for any other Website ending.

Example of endings include:- .biz
                                                    .info
                                                    .net
                                                    and others.

.co.uk and .com in Great Britain are covered by the law of the land and in the USA are covered by State Laws. This means to the consumer that you are protected.

That cannot be said of any other type of Website, If you are buying from a Website abroad be very careful, look at the small print before you part with any money!! (see below).

This brings us to the second thing of importance, which is never trust a foreign Website with your money!!. There are many foreign Websites that are trustworthy, but I am afraid that because of the total lack of any governing rules or regulations covering these Websites, you are asking for trouble and believe me if you use them sooner rather than later your going to find it.

These are the places where the fake Websites hide out so stay away.

There are a growing number of FALSE Websites around, these appear to be from a reputable business but are scams. These sites look exactly the same as the ones they are copying but the problem here is you will lose a lot of money, never get anything you have ordered and they disappear one day and are back up the next with a slightly different name.

I am hearing about these types of Websites more and more, as long as we have the Internet there are going to be people trying to steal your money, sad but true.

One of the big questions you should ask yourself when buying on the Internet is, What comeback have I got if something goes wrong?.

Well to answer that question for a USA or UK citizen is simple, you must use a .co.uk or a .com, anything else should be checked thoroughly and only when you are satisfied that the particular Website is safe, should you ever part with any money (although I do not recommend using other Websites with different endings).

Website security and the padlock symbol I will go over in a later post, also the way you should pay for anything you buy on the Internet.

Remember use .co.uk and .com Websites only and make sure their from the USA or UK.

By following this advice you greatly reduce the risk of being scammed by Websites.     Note:- These views are held by this Website and Author and are for guidence only.

When I started out I made the biggest mistake of all and that was trying to do everything myself, I’ll explain below:-

I wanted to create a website income for myself, I knew that this was going to need my full-time attention.

I also knew that if I was not careful, I could end up spending a lot of money.
Making instant money was not possible, the sites that said it was where scamming people.

So my answer to all this was to go it alone and that was my biggest blunder, it takes a long time to set up a successful business on the Internet and I am talking about 3-4 months or longer.

Sure, you can have a Website up on the Internet within a day, but as anyone who has done this eventually finds out, your Website is going nowhere.

My hosting account is a Reseller which means I can sell Websites (pages) to anyone and set them up on the same day, but I will not do this for the reasons stated below. Unlike many other Websites who take your money, and then you find out it will cost you a lot more for the extras!!.

There are certain things that you need to do to your Website to make it appealing to Google, Yahoo etc.

Including SEO (Search Engine Optimization) which has must be done correctly, it is not worth thinking about if you get this wrong.
You will need to advertise your Website, how do you go about this without running out of money very quickly?
Your content has must be spot on, so many Websites get this wrong and suffer because of it.
Should you write an article or two and if you do, who should you publish them with for greatest effect?
Do Traffic Exchanges work to promote a Website or do they have a harmful effect when they show up in Google Analytics as a referral visit?
Should you link your Face-book or Twitter(or more) accounts to your Website?
What social buttons should you use on your Website?
Should you be running Google Analytics for your site?
Do you need to blog? And if you do where are you going to go with it?
What is Page Rank and how does this effect your Website?
And what exactly are Back-links and how do you go about getting the right ones that will help your Website?, and at the same time making sure you leave out the Back-links that could harm your Website.

As you can see from above, having your own Website on the Internet involves many things that you as the owner should know. And I could mention many other things that you need to get right for your Website to prosper.

When I first started out trying to build an Income from the Internet, I had to start from the beginning, I knew nothing about what you should do or how you should do it.
I was also unsure about what type of Home Business I wanted to get involved in, having never thought I would be in a position to undertake such a project.

I was competent in most things when using the Internet, searching for things, sending e-mails etc. but starting a business? Help!!
I think I was like most people when I thought about running a home business and that is, ‘Where Do I Start’ ?

For me it was a case of looking at what was available on the Internet, and then hopefully making an informed decision, the whole process of trying to find something took me over two weeks of using ‘Google Search’.

I very quickly learnt that there are many different ways that you can try to earn an income from the Internet, but I also learned very quickly that a lot of things being offered on the Internet are not really tangible items, you are being sold emotionally something that you can’t physically hold in your hands.

This left me with only two options and they are the same for everyone who has ever started a business on the Internet,

1/ I could try selling an ‘Idea’ by using peoples emotions to buy into something.
                                                        or
2/ I could sell an actual ‘Item’ that people were after.

There is a major problem with the first option, and that is most of the schemes that can be sold by the old emotionally sales trick are scams.
I very quickly found out that most of these sales pages are offering something that will not make you much money, they are in the business to take your money.
I also spent time researching some of these schemes only to find that a very small percentage are actually workable.

Whilst I was researching there was also one thing that reared its ugly head again and again, and that is the Websites that were offering these schemes closed them down quite often and then revamped them under a different name.
Most of the information I got was from various review Websites, but even here you have to be careful that the review your reading is not from someone connected with the scheme or is not someone trying to promote their own scheme.

Again here I had choices to make, how do I know what are outright scams and how could I tell them from the real thing?

My answer was to join ‘imreportcard.com’ which is a very well respected site that details exactly the information I was after.
Their Website mission is – to catalogue, review and discuss most things that are Internet based marketing systems etc.
Put them into a Google Search yourself and have a look, then if you think they have something to offer you you can become a member, it’s Free.
Let me reassure you that I do not earn anything from imreportcard.com, my review here is totally unbiased, There are other Websites that do the same thing as imreportcard.com that you can easily put in a search for, I personally have found imreportcard.com to be the best of them all.

Finding the right keywords for your site is easier if you have a Google account, you will need this account for your Analytics and Web-Master tools anyway so if you haven’t set your account up yet, now is the time.

The Google page you want is ‘Google Ad-words’, and once there the information you need to use is explained clearly.
Do not be afraid to experiment with different Keywords for your site, but make sure that whatever you choose closely relates to what your Website is all about.

The whole point of this exercise is to find out how many ‘Searches’ there are for your given Keywords in a month, this will then give you an idea of how popular your Website could be.

Remember ‘Searches’ are potential visitors to your site, the happy medium here is to get Keywords that bring you visitors with the least competition.

Also on this page, you can input your geological area that you want your Website targeted for, unless you have something or you want to concentrate locally I would recommend you go for the biggest catchment area, thereby appealing to more visitors.

Here it is worth pointing out that unless you want to pay, which is costly for Keywords that you might want to use for an advertisment, you are just looking up information, so do not take your query any further.

i.e.
Go to Google Ad-words,
Your domain is say’Letsrumbatothenumber.com,
Look up ‘Lets rumba to the number’ in keywords,
How many searches made for these keywords a month?,
Is the competition high, low or medium?
Once you have this information, leave the page.

It is rare that a Website domain name is vastly different to the keywords you should choose to use for that domain.

The whole point of this is trying to connect your Website with the correct keywords, so that when someone puts in a search for ‘Lets rumba to the number’, your Website is on the first page that comes up.

Finding keywords for your Website is meant to be done with the fewest keywords for the least competition, so taking ‘Lets rumba to the number’ we could try the keywords ‘Lets rumba’ and see what information Google give us, if the competition is too high then using ‘Lets rumba to the number’ might be better.

It is here that you should make sure that there are searches made for this phrase, not checking will leave you with a Website and no visitors.

You may think that when choosing your Domain Name and keywords that someone else has already thought of them, often this is true which is why it is so important to do your ‘Homework’ first, following my advice on my Website will leave you with the correct information to go forward with confidence.

Let me just end this review by saying that there are often times when you can pick up a great Domain Name just by searching for your Keywords, Lots of people in the early days of the Internet went for the very short names only to give up on them when they failed to make any money with them, If you find one of these short Domain Names snap it up their gold dust.

How To Create A Website Income, with the Right Keywords.

Keywords = How your Website,Page or Blog, is IDENTIFIED.

If you have a Website that has not been optimized for certain Keywords then you will always have a problem with Search Engines and lack of Visitors.

Let me give you a simple explanation:-

Blank Piece of Paper = Going Nowhere and Filed Nowhere, No
                                       interest so lets bin it !!

Titled Piece of Paper = Filed correctly under heading, so it can be           
                                       looked up by anyone who is interested in
                                       the content.  

Keywords should be researched before you do anything about setting up your own Website, because without them you will be in the crawler lane watching everyone go past you.

Every day, Millions of people around the world put into the Search Engines the subject that they want the information too, then, after the Search Engines have done their job, you are presented with the relevant pages in the order that the Search Engines have indexed them.

Always remember that last sentence:-

“You are presented with the relevant pages in the order that the Search Engines have indexed them.”

Search Engines index pages using Keywords.

Your Own Page-Rank.

Having set up your Website with the basic SEO,GOOGLE ANALYTICS and  simple XML SITEMAP, it is now the correct time for you to be thinking of your Page-Rank.

How you go about this will determine how popular your Website is and therefore how highly you rank and how many visitors you get, do it wrong will leave you floating about in cyberspace with no visitors and your Website not being Indexed by the main Search Engines.

Google will rank pages that it searches, if you have original content and change the content every 4-5 days you will rank highly for your chosen topic which means a better indexing and more visitors.

Using copied or spun content and Google will penalise you, here is a very general outline you can use:-

Your Original Content    = Page-Rank 1-5 which is Good,

Copied or Spun Content = Page Rank 6-10 which is Bad.

Please note this is not the definitive description of Page-Rank but If you follow the above outline you wont go wrong.

By using copied or spun content not only could you be infringing copyright law, but you could also be Blacklisted from the major Search Engines, if that happens wave goodbye to your Website because you are going to have to start all over again.

Using a Spinner to get Spun content that you can use on your Website has to be done extremely carefully. Once spun you then have to check the grammar is correct and that there are no other versions already published on the Internet.

Writing your own 350 word content (blog) is quicker, better and a whole lot more satisfying, try it, it’s easier than you think.

A great number of people when they first try to make an income from the Internet, is to go the route of least resistance.

This can mean joining schemes that are well promoted, but turn into a never ending spiral downwards, you have to be very very careful that anything you join is not just advertising and making money for someone else.

All these schemes are telling us that we can create an Income with little or no work, or for a small amount of money you can see this money double or treble over time to four figures a month etc, well I’m afraid even greedy Bankers can’t do that.

Our natural impulse is to try and earn money for the least amount of work, and we are often sucked in to these schemes because we spend money with our emotions, not a clear business brain which would be warning us that if it sounds to good to be true it normally is.

All of these Websites are out to take your money and do very little to help you create a Website Income. Anyone who has been looking to start a business from home will quite often pay money to a few Websites before they realise that  

The thing that you must realise is, that it takes work and a little investment promoting your Website to start earning an Income.

This will not happen straight away, a lot of very successful on-line businesses took a few months before they showed any profit.

A very high percentage of all the people who start out trying to create a Website Income fail, they give up when they see that it is costing them more than they are making.(this is because they have not bothered to learn a few new skills).

 The most common problem encountered in Internet marketing, is that most people seem to think it’s easy (which you are led to believe) when in fact the skills required take time to learn and must be implemented properly.

Every Website owner has this nagging doubt in the back of their mind that maybe their missing something?.

Missing what exactly?

Many of us that own Websites wonder if we have done all we can to promote that site and get more visitors?, Getting visitors, who are the lifeblood of most sites takes time, so we should use that time wisely.

You should look at the time you spend at your computer and put a value to it, this will then make you realise that your time is valuable and should not be wasted, a lot of people will click away at Traffic Exchanges for their visitors(this being one way of getting visitors for no cost) , but this is not a good way of using our time.

The difficulty with Traffic Exchange visitors, is converting them into potential customers for your site.

The content on your site must attract these ‘clickers’ away from what they are doing, not easily done.

The conversion rate is very low on Traffic Exchanges and even if you buy ‘Credits’ (views), and get more visitors you will still find it difficult to do much business. Also thinking you can earn anything from Traffic Exchanges quickly is wrong, remember that these sites are set up to build your ‘LIST’ and should be treated this way, and again this takes time.

Even using multiply Traffic Exchange accounts to generate more visitors or a longer List, will still leave you with the problem that these ‘clickers’ are not interested in your site and what you have to offer.

You can spend hours and hours of your time at Traffic Exchanges for little or no reward, at first you might find it fun to surf away and collect your ‘credits’, but very soon it will get monotonous and you could find yourself clicking away just to keep yourself in credits and visitors, so how could we spend our time and get better results?.

I have certainly found one of the best ways of using my time properly is to set myself ‘Goals’ (PLAN) to achieve at the end of each day, if you start out using the money route i.e. $’s per hour, you can very quickly find this depressing due to the time it takes to set everything up and start earning an Income, you will find a big minus total before you start selling anything.

Allowing yourself time to get everything set up and running the way you want is essential for your peace of mind, never give yourself a task that HAS to be completed by a given deadline, because if by any chance you have not finished the task you automatically think your behind, and then problems can easily build up.

Having a Plan (GOALS) to work to is one of the best methods you can have to utilise your time, also get in the right frame of mind, be positive, it will show in your work and create a feel-good factor about your site.

The more you get nearer to having everything set up on your website, the more you must then look at the amount of time you spend promoting that website for the right results.

Only after you have implemented and optimised your website as a finished ‘Article’ should you then start using $’s per hour as a guideline to valuing your time.

Here is where you should start to value your time per hour, a simple $10.00′s an hour is a good starting value, and by giving your time a value now, you will be able to value what is effective and what isn’t.

For Example:-

9.00-10.00am, Wrote a blog about my website/content.

10.00-11.00am, Submit blog to various outlets.

11.00-12.00pm, Catch up with Face-book, Twitter, My-space etc.

12.00-02.00pm, LUNCH and get away from the computer!!!

02.00-03.00pm, Go through your E-Mails and checkout contacts.

03.00-04.00pm, Check your Analytics and correct your Website                                     if necessary.

04.00pm, STOP, and do something else.

Tea and Coffee breaks whenever you feel like it!!

The above should be a typical day and you will be surprised how long these simple things take if you do them properly, you can change the tasks around i.e. start at 09.00am with Analytics, it’s up to you.

By completing the above tasks properly your website will get visitors.

Put in more time if need be, but not so much as to make it a burden, It is much better to be fresh and alert at 09.00am than wishing you were doing something else.

Remember that the Computer should be doing a lot of the work, If you find yourself doing all the work then you have missed something along the way.

How important is a Domain Name?

ANSWER =VERY IMPORTANT.

The problem for many people when they first set up an on-line business, is choosing the right Domain Name. This is what your Website will be known as to everyone on the Internet and should be researched properly before you buy.

Remember, that it is a Page from your Website that gets ranked and not your Website as a whole, Pages appear on Google for the relevance of the content which should always be original and not copied or spun.

Ideally your Domain Name should say something about the content you are going to have on your Website. Therefore if you were selling say ‘Diet Drinks’ you should be looking for a Domain Name that has ‘Diet Drinks’ in it,

e.g.   getyourdietdrinkshere.com

Getting as close to your preferred Domain Name all depends on what’s available.
Also you should be looking to put (key) words into your Domain Name, which will help with your ranking and visitors, Keywords are normally used to get your site in a position where there will be people searching for what’s on your site.

A very big mistake for the beginner is to buy a Domain Name and then find out no-one puts in a search for that name, by not researching properly is the difference between success and failure.

There is a difference between your Domain Name and any content you publish for getting good Rankings, this will be covered at a later date.

Keyword research must be done before you buy a Domain Name.

There are Websites around and very good ones that have nothing to do with the Domain Name they are using, but trying to get a new business up and running is much harder this way, and often requires an already famous ‘brand’.  

From the first time you thought about having an on-line business, you probably thought of what you would like to call your site. This can present a problem if that Domain Name is owned by someone else, so what are your options?

Firstly you need to check that your choice of title for your site is available, this can be done quite easily from Google Search and putting in, ‘Domain Names Checker’. If you find that your Domain Name is available then buy it, do not wait.

There are different endings that you can get i.e. .com, .biz, .ws and so on. You are strongly advised to get a .com Domain Name as this promotes your site as serious  and the buying public are more inclined to buy from a .com than from anywhere else.

Go to Google Search and put in anything, you will find that almost all of the top pages are from just a .com or a .co.uk

Of course if you only want to promote your Website locally then it would be fine to use a .co.uk for example, though you are then just appealing to U.K. visitors and not the World Wide Web. (the same applies to any country).

This is the numbers game,

If what you have on your Website is restricted to your home country then you might get 50 visitors a day and maybe 1 – 2 sales.

If what you have on your Website is for the whole World Wide Web then you could expect 500 visitors a day and maybe 10 – 20 sales.

Search Engines.

When you log in to your Internet account, you land on the home page of whoever you have chosen to use (Google,Yahoo etc). Then depending on what it was you wanted to look up, you entered that subject matter into the search bar and are then taken to the relevant pages.

Welcome to the ‘Search Engine’ , arguably the most important operation that will affect your Website, Rank and Visitors you receive.

Make no mistake, getting something wrong here is the difference between success and failure. If you do not optimize your Website for the ‘Search Engine’s’ properly then you might as well pack it in.

Strong words I know, but it is surprising how many people get this wrong.

There are many sites advertising S.E.O. (search engine optimization) help, and many offer different ways that you can get better Ranking and therefore more Visitors to your site. I will advise you now that using these sites can be detrimental to your own site, using more than one of these sites could bring your site to a standstill.

The No1 Search Engine is ‘GOOGLE’, but you should also use ‘YAHOO’, ‘BING’ and others. By making your Website known to these Search Engines you stand a better chance of more Visitors.

‘Google Analytics’ is also very important for your Website and should be linked to your site as soon as you have it set up. Without this you are left high and dry when you want information on how your site looks to the Search Engines.

Let me explain a little more clearly, A Google Bot (Googles own little search engine) crawls around the Internet all day looking at Websites to make sure they confirm to Googles code of conduct (and many other things).
If their little bot (robot file) finds anything on your site that breaches Googles code of ethics then your Website will be taken off the Google Index, this means your Website will no longer appear in a Google Search.

If that happens you might as well scrap your Website and start again with a different Domain Name.

This Bot will crawl all the way through your Website looking at everything, what it likes is content that is ORIGINAL and not copied or spun.

S.E.O. Done right can take a bit of your time, but the results are worth the effort. This is a general outline and I would recommend that you get some kind of help if this is new to you. Below are my recommendations for Word-press and using S.E.O. If your Website is built using another type of program then you will have to follow their instructions, But the end result should be the same plug-ins I state below.

Because there are so many sites around saying ‘this and that’ works best for S.E.O. It makes it hard to know what’s right for your Website and what you should implement on your site.

There is an easy answer to this problem, and that’s by using a plug-in on your site for your S.E.O. It is not necessary for you to have all the detailed knowledge about what the plug-in does or does not, but by spending just a little time with it, you will get used to it and what it does.

To enable your plug-in with word-press, just go to the plug-in page and put S.E.O. In the search panel. You are then given a selection of plug ins that you can download directly onto your Website.

 Use the plug-in titled:- ‘All in One SEO Pack‘

This is a basic plug-in that works and works well, there is no need to have any other type of S.E.O. for your Website.

Now, same as above but this time,

Use the plug-in titled:- ‘Google Analytics for Word-press‘

Make sure you have a Google account with Google Analytics so you can put your unique code into the plug-in.

And lastly,

Use the plug-in titled:- ‘Google XML Site-maps‘

Your are now set up.

There is no need to complicate anything further by adding anything else.
Using the above plug ins I have gone to Googles 1st page in less than two weeks for my chosen topic.

Simple put, by following these guidelines you will not go wrong. All too often I read about various methods, that you are recommended to do  to keep your S.E.O. up to-date, these ‘extras’ are not required for you to get good Ranking and therefore more visitors to your Website.

I spend quite a lot of my time on the Internet looking at various Websites, I am looking for the ‘Content’ they offer and what catches my eye.

To Create a Website Income from home you need to look at all the latest Idea’s around, and if need be apply them to your own site.

Keeping your site up to-date should be one of the most important aspects you do on a day to day basis. The Internet is changing all the time and you need to be there to make sure your Website stays at the front of any new advancements made.

To gain good rankings can take a lot of work, and failing to keep your site ‘Fresh’ will undo your hard work. All the search engines that count look for Daily new content and will rank you better if you have this, sitting on your site and doing nothing will see it go down hill pretty fast, not a pleasant experience !!!

Just these few things will take only an hour to do properly, and if you are serious about your site then they need to be done. I tend to spend longer but that’s just how I like to do things.
When I mention ‘Content’ and your need to keep it fresh, I mean that whatever you put up on your site should be ‘Orignal’, If any of the search engines find copied content on your site then again your site will suffer, so

remember:-
Search Engines love Original Up To-date Content.

A word of caution here for anyone using ‘Spinners’, Most of the software available today requires you to check anything that you spin. By not checking, you will send out items that do not read correctly and will be picked up by the search engines, let alone the people reading them, not a good thing !!!

Follow the simple rule (original Content) and you will reap the benefits, I cannot stress this highly enough, It should be one of the first things you do when you switch on your computer.

Creating a Website Income from home is a serious business, and if you want to earn money on the Internet, then these housekeeping tips are a must. In the long run you will see that all your efforts pay off and the time needed to implement these strategies will shorten.

Remember that the Internet is full of old sites (pages) that are left ‘Out There’ in the hope you will land on one, Stay away. (look at my dates posting for info).

Trying to earn a Website Income from home requires the right mindset, It is certainly not the correct mentality to click away or join endless schemes.

If you did this you will find out for yourself very quickly that having your finger in a lot of pies can end up with you not knowing where to turn.

In this kind of situation things can spiral out of control and you could end up loosing your money instead of making it.

The correct mindset for creating a Website income is to start small, by following this first step you will learn how much it is going to cost you to get everything set up.

A lot of very successful Internet business’s have started this way, one of great things to also come out of this approach to creating a Website Income, is that you can quickly see what is working for your Website and what isn’t.

Are you now beginning to see that the correct mindset plays an important part of you being successful and what a minefield it is if you don’t know what you are doing.

In today’s financial climate there is certainly a greater need for families to think about a second income.

The World Wide Web (Internet) is an excellent place to find that income, but how do you generate a Website that is going to bring you the extra income from working at home? Where do you start? Who do you trust?

There is an endless stream of ‘Get Rich Quick’ schemes that although may look inviting, they will never give you a stable income in the long run. You can assume correctly that this type of hard sell is just a quick way of losing your money for very little return. A lot of people have been hood-winked into these types of hyped up sites, and found out after a short period of time that they will not make any money.

The first thing anyone who wants to start up a business on the Internet should do, is ‘ GOOGLE SEARCH ‘ the website that is offering you something you’re interested in, make sure that you look at reviews about the site from different sources.

By doing this you will get a good idea of what the general population of the Internet think about any given site. It is very rare that a website that is not honest with you will ever get a good review, that said if the site is new then there has probably not been enough time to review the site. So Stay Away.

Be aware that a lot of sites operate what are called ‘ Pyramid or Ponzi Schemes ‘,  they will not be obvious but make sure to read any small print if there is any.

If you have any doubt about a website leave well alone, remember these sites are appealing to your emotions and offer no tangible items.

Here is the golden rule of selling:-

Buyers wanting a certain product———–You have that product to sell to them.

If you can do the above you will make money no matter the state the economy is in.

So what should you do next?
