How To Start A Website,
Search Engines.
When you log in to your Internet account, you land on the home page of whoever you have chosen to use (Google,Yahoo etc). Then depending on what it was you wanted to look up, you entered that subject matter into the search bar and are then taken to the relevant pages.
Welcome to the ‘Search Engine’ , arguably the most important operation that will affect your Website, Rank and Visitors you receive.
Make no mistake, getting something wrong here is the difference between success and failure. If you do not optimize your Website for the ‘Search Engine’s’ properly then you might as well pack it in.
Strong words I know, but it is surprising how many people get this wrong.
There are many sites advertising S.E.O. (Search Engine Optimization) help, and many offer different ways that you can get better Ranking and therefore more Visitors to your site. I will advise you now that using these sites can be detrimental to your own site, using more than one of these sites could bring your site to a standstill.
The No1 Search Engine is ‘GOOGLE’, but you should also use ‘YAHOO’, ‘BING’ and others. By making your Website known to these Search Engines you stand a better chance of more Visitors.
‘Google Analytics’ is also very important for your Website and should be linked to your site as soon as you have it set up. Without this you are left high and dry when you want information on how your site looks to the Search Engines.
Let me explain a little more clearly, A Google Bot (Google’s own little search engine) crawls around the Internet all day looking at Websites to make sure they confirm to Google’s code of conduct (and many other things).
If their little bot (robot file) finds anything on your site that breaches Google’s code of ethics then your Website will be taken off the Google Index, this means your Website will no longer appear in a Google Search.
If that happens you might as well scrap your Website and start again with a different Domain Name.
This Bot will crawl all the way through your Website looking at everything, what it likes is content that is ORIGINAL and not copied or spun.
S.E.O. Done right can take a bit of your time, but the results are worth the effort. This is a general outline and I would recommend that you get some kind of help if this is new to you.
